Progress to date
The team at Optimum Boats started construction on the Intrepid 40 in mid March, staring with the lower sections of the two hulls, using cedar core and a range of double bias and triax weave cloth with epoxy resin. Computer cut frames for this section of the hulls gives a very accurate and fair hull shape. Meanwhile the 'wing' section that will bond the two hulls together is being shaped up separately..

Hulls and wingdeck joined
The Hulls have been fitted below the Wingdeck, fitting perfectly. Once the transverse frame plates are installed, the hulls and wingdeck will be glassed together.

Transom plate fitted to stern
The CnC cut transom plate is fitted to the stern sections, fitting perfectly, showing the accuracy of this type of build and minimizing labour costs.

Installation of Bulkheads
All the CnC cut bulkheads and panels have arrived and are now being installed in the i40.

More Bulkheads in place
The forward bulkheads are now in place, the Optimum lads are now in the process of taping these in place now.

Optimum Boats Ltd is on the move
Dave Pester and his crew have relocated the operation in the old Mc Dell Marine Factory.This is purpose built boat building warehouse with a multitude of roller doors and an overhead remote controlled 7 ton gantry crane. Being nearly twice the size of the of the old warehouse this will help with the production of all the projects.

On the final run
Through the design process we have had some innovative ideas and changed the original layout.This has put us behind a few months but plan to have the boat in the water February 2011

We are on the water at last
We have experienced some lengthily delays at Optimum Boats Ltd due to very poor management...but we have finally got the boat on the water...see gallery for on the water pictures.
We have had good enquiries for further boats but we are now looking for another boat builder.

future models
We have now realised that we have a boat that can delivery speed space and fuel economy we are now looking for a boat builder and that has taken us offshore. We are taking to builders in a few countries that understand composite manufacturing.
When we have selected the appropriate builder..we believe we can reduce the price and improve the delivery time
